News for Florida auto accident lawyers- FHP cited intoxicated driver in crash with Dunbar Armored vehicle.
Land O’ Lakes, FL—A motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving an armored van was caused by an intoxicated driver and resulted in injuries ranging from minor to serious at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010. The two-vehicle wreck occurred along the Dale Mabry Highway in Pasco County, Florida and caused numerous bags of coins, which were being transported in the armored vehicle, to spill across the roadway, according to information provided by TampaBay.com.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) authorities reported 27-year-old Jose Soto driving his Chevy four-door vehicle northbound on the highway when he made a left turn, subsequently coming into the path of a southbound Dunbar Armored van. The two vehicles became involved in a violent collision that sent the armored vehicle, driven by Todd Laslo, swerving around in a clockwise direction. Laslo apparently overcorrected, prompting the van to flip over multiple times.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene to transport those injured in the motor vehicle accident to area hospitals for treatment. Pasco Fire Rescue crews allegedly had to extricate Laslo and a passenger in his vehicle, James Ahern, from the badly damaged Dunbar Armored van. They were then taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital to be treated for the serious injuries they suffered in the crash. Soto sustained minor injuries in the collision and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment as well.
Preliminary investigations into the violent two-vehicle wreck revealed Soto had been drinking prior to the accident and his license was invalid. Soto was also ticketed for his failure to yield to the armored vehicle, leading to the injurious incident.
