Pedestrian killed by motorist in Hayward, CA; Investigators asking for help

California automobile accident attorneys alerts- A crash in Hayward fatally injured a pedestrian.

San Francisco Bay, CA—A pedestrian who was crossing a street in Hayward was hit and killed by a passing motorist. The fatal collision occurred Tuesday night, March 30, 2010 around 10:20 p.m. on Mission Boulevard and Berry Avenue, as reported by the InsideBayArea.com.

Police officials reported a woman in her 40s was crossing the intersection of Mission and Berry when a car, driven by a 29-year-old man, hit and killed her. The driver was uninjured in the wreck and remained at the scene for questioning. It is unknown if the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital before succumbing to her injuries or if she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The unidentified motorist voluntarily submitted a blood test so that officials could determine if drugs and/or alcohol were in his system at the time of the fatal collision. Police officials stated that their preliminary investigation suggested that the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol when she was fatally hit. The Alameda County coroner’s bureau is investigating the accident.
