Washington personal injury lawyers alert- A accident involving a turbo jet and a fuel tanker in Seattle, WA left a driver injured.
Seattle, WA—A freak accident on a Seattle runway just before 7:00 on Thursday, April 8, 2010 left a tanker driver trapped inside his truck after the wing of a U-Turning plane impaled the driver’s side of the truck. The collision occurred at Seattle’s Boeing Field, as reported by KIROTV.
Eyewitnesses reported that a business jet was taxiing on the runway when the pilot missed a turn on the taxiway. The pilot attempted to make a U-Turn and didn’t realize that a fuel tanker truck was about a hundred yards behind the fixed wing turbo jet. One witness stated, “so when the jet came around the fuel tank on the end of its wing, struck right in the front of the cab. The driver at the very last second tried to back out of the way.” The fixed wing impaled the driver’s side cab of the truck, trapping the terrified driver inside. Four fire departments, including the King County Fire Department, responded to the scene to help release the driver. The cab of the truck was cut apart to allow rescuers to extract the man from the damaged truck. He reportedly sustained injuries that were not considered life threatening. His identity is currently being withheld. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) http://www.faa.gov/ is investigating the incident.
