Texas construction accident attorneys- A BECON construction contract worker is dead after a crane accident at a Texas refinery.

Port Arthur, TX—On Monday, April 17, 2010, a contract worker was tragically killed at the 285,000 barrel-per-day Motiva Enterprises LLC refinery. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Officer responded to the scene at around 8:55 a.m. after they received a call of “an industrial accident at a construction site,” according to information provided by Reuters and the Wall Street Journal.

A BECON Construction worker was reportedly killed in a crane accident in the area of the refinery where there was an ongoing expansion project. When rescue teams arrived at the scene the unidentified worker had already passed away.

A Motiva spokesperson stated, “We regret to confirm that a fatality involving a contract worker… at the Motiva’s Port Arthur Crude Expansion Project. The circumstances of this incident are under investigation.” Royal Dutch Shell, who operates the Texas refinery, also confirmed the fatal workplace accident reports. The unfortunate accident is currently under investigation by officials. The identity of the worker and the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently being withheld. It was not reported if the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov would conduct a full investigation as well.

The expansion project will enable the refinery to process 600,000 barrels per day of oil, and is expected to be completed in early 2012.
