News for Michigan 18-wheeler accident attorneys- A minivan driver suffered fatal injuries after becoming involved in a motor vehicle collision with two semi-trucks.
Ionia County, MI—A fatal chain-reaction crash involving two 18-wheelers and a van resulted in one fatality at approximately 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. The deadly motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred at the junction of Jordan Lake and Portland roads in Berlin Township, Michigan, according to information provided by Sentinel-Standard.com.
Michigan State Police (MSP) officials reported an unidentified 52-year-old Greenville man driving a tractor-trailer eastbound on Portland Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Jordan Lake Road. Upon doing so, the 18-wheeler struck a southbound semi-truck, whose driver was not identified. The impact of the 2-semi collision sent one rig careening into the northbound lane of Jordan Lake Road, where it consequently became involved in a separate crash with a Venture van, driven by Harold Miller.
Miller, a Saranac resident, seemingly had to be extricated from his badly damaged vehicle after the accident. While MSP, Berlin-Orange Twp. Fire Department, Life EMS, AeroMed, Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, Ionia Public Safety Department and Ionia County Road Commission officials and personnel were all dispatched to the scene of the semi-involved chain-reaction collision, Miller unfortunately suffered severe injuries, which proved fatal at the scene.
While drugs and/or alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors in the deadly accident, investigations are expected to continue.
