Portsmouth, NH– On Thursday, May 6, 2010, a Greyhound bus en route from Maine to Boston was the center of a bomb scare, as reported by www.wmur.com.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., a person on the Greyhound bus called 911 to report a possible suspicious device. The bus was stopped and surrounded by law enforcement officers for nearly three hours.

While the bus driver had exited the bus and disabled the suspicious device from outside the vehicle, it was unclear to police why the passengers remained on the bus.

At approximately 2 p.m., all but one of the passengers exited the bus with their hands over their heads. Portsmouth police were reportedly questioning the final passenger. Two other individuals were led away from the scene in handcuffs. Police did not name the two handcuffed people suspects, though.

Along with the Portsmouth Police Department, a SWAT team and the FBI were at the scene. The FAA had instated a three-mile no-fly zone around the bus. It was lifted after passengers began exiting the bus.

Police had evacuated buildings and residences around the area as well.
