Melbourne, FL – A teen was arrested Tuesday, May 11, 2010, and charged with possession of bomb-making materials at a school and attempting to make a destructive device, according to The Palm Beach Post.
Cameron Lee Kage, 16, a student at Eau Gaille High School in Melbourne, was found carrying a knife, the ingredients to make a bomb, along with instructions on building several different bombs. Along with the paraphernalia, Kage’s backpack contained a trench coat and combat boots.
Kage admitted to researching ways to make bombs during police questioning.
The notebooks contained how-to instructions for the devices along with information on how to use the bombs at his school, including where to put them in order to cause the most destruction.
Police found wire cutters, a razor knife, a screwdriver and several bomb-making ingredients in the teen’s locker.
Brevard County school officials reported that Kage will be expelled for at least a year. Furthermore, the district stated it will assist police and prosecutors for the criminal case.
In a prepared statement from Superintendent Brian T. Binggeli said, “Threats of any time on Brevard Public Schools will not be tolerated.”
