Lewisville TX Construction Accident: 2 killed at park-and-ride construction site

Dallas, TX—An accident at a park-and-ride rail station killed two workers and injured two others, when a boom on a concrete pumping truck collapsed on top of them. The fatal work-related accident occurred off Hebron Parkway in Lewisville around 5:15 a.m., on Thursday, June 24, 2010, as reported by the Dallas Morning News.

According to officials, the boom on a concrete pumping truck collapsed onto the four workers, who were finishing pavement under the funnel at the time of the accident.

Gerardo Horta, 34, of Dallas was killed in the accident. The other victim, who also sustained fatal injuries, had not been identified at the time.

Two other workers were rushed to area hospital for treatment of leg injuries. One worker was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, while the other was taken to the Medical Center of Lewisville.

Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Lewisville police are conducting a full investigation into the fatal construction accident.

It is unknown what caused the boom on the concrete pumping truck to collapse.
