Pasadena, CA—A three-vehicle collision killed an elderly man and injured five others, when one vehicle failed to yield to a red stop light. The fatal accident occurred around 11:45 a.m., at the intersection of East Orange Grove Boulevard and East Sierra Madre Boulevard, as reported by Pasadena Star News.
Pasadena police and fire officials found three passengers trapped inside one vehicle, who had to be extricated by the Pasadena Fire Department firefighters.
An elderly male passenger in one of the cars, whose exact age is unknown, was rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. The driver of the car the elderly man was traveling in, a 34-year-old woman, was also seriously injured. She was also rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Four other victims were also transported to area hospitals with less severe injuries. Their current conditions are unknown.
Authorities are currently withholding the identities of the victims.
Pasadena police officers are currently trying to determine how the accident occurred. At this time, no citations have been issued, nor have any arrests been made in connection with the fatal accident.
