Malibu CA Head-On Crash: Wrong-Way Driver Slams Into Car At 90 mph, Killing 2

Malibu, CA—A head-on crash involving a wrong way driver killed two men and critically injured a third on Friday, July 16, 2010. The fatal accident occurred around 12:42 a.m., on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) near Pointe Dume, as reported by My Fox LA.

According to witnesses, A Saturn was traveling east on the westbound lanes of the PCH at around 90 mph, when it slammed head-on into a westbound Mustang. On impact, the Saturn erupted into flames.

Two female motorists stated that minutes before the crash, a Saturn made a U-turn and deliberately drove toward them.

The inferno burned the driver of the car, who was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Saturn was believed to be from Minnesota.

The driver of the Mustang did not survive the accident and was also pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger inside the Mustang was airlifted via helicopter to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in critical condition with a broken left arm and leg and a concussion. Both men were reportedly military personnel assigned to the Port Hueneme Naval Base in Oxnard.

A full investigation into the fatal accident is currently underway.
