New York, NY – Investigators are still searching for the cause of a fire that took the life of a Queens woman and her two-year-old son early Tuesday, July 13, 2010, as reported by NY1.com.

According to reports, a blaze erupted at approximately 4:30 a.m. on the second floor of a two-story apartment building on Anderson Road in Springfield Gardens.

A 23-year-old pregnant woman was found dead at the scene. Fire officials reported she died of smoke inhalation. Her two-year-old son was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. They resided on the second floor of the building. Sources identified the two as Linda Anderson and Ayden Hayes.

One neighbor told reporters, “She spent a lot of time with her son. She was really friendly and talkative. A nice girl, never rude, never disrespectful. That’s why it’s really sad.”

Three other residents of the building escaped the fire. They lived on the first floor and in the basement.

Neighbors reported the fire erupted quickly.

Fire officials also reported they were sent to the wrong address originally because the 911 caller did not give an address. They reported the firefighters were able to find the home within minutes though, and contain the blaze soon after.

Officials are still attempting to track down the caller.
