Fresno, CA—As previously reported in “CA Bus Crash: Greyhound Bus Crash killed 6, injured 34 on Calif. Hwy 99,” six people were killed and 34 others were injured when the Greyhound bus went off the road and hit a tree. Now, four adults and two children who were injured in the wreck have filed a lawsuit against Greyhound Lines Inc., as reported by The Associated Press.
The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in the Sacramento County Superior Court, which claims the bus driver did not “fulfill his duty to transport the passengers safely.”
The lawsuit asserts that Greyhound should pay damages to those who were injured and to the relatives of the people that were killed in the violent July 22 wreck.
Plaintiff Maurice Campbell, 37, of Sacramento said, “What started as a simple trip from L.A. to my home in Sacramento has turned into a life-altering nightmare… The doctors haven’t figured out yet what they will need to do to get me back on track.”
The plaintiffs claim that they have suffered orthopedic and head injuries, and the two children are experiencing severe emotional distress.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
