West Milwaukee, WI—A motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving a car and motorcycle left one man dead and a woman with severe head injuries on Sunday, July 18, 2010. Police seem to believe alcohol and/or speed might have contributed to the fatal crash, though investigations will be required to justify such suspicions, according to information provided by WISN.
Reports indicated an unidentified 36-year-old man from Milwaukee was driving his car in the southbound lanes of Highway 41 when he attempted to make a turn onto National Avenue. Upon doing so, a motorcycle operated by a 43-year-old Milwaukee man traveling northbound on Miller Park Way smashed into his car.
Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene to rush those injured to area hospitals. The motorcyclist and his unidentified 41-year-old female passenger were transported to Froedtert Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the bike’s operator succumbed to his injuries at the medical center.
While the passenger, a West Allis woman, suffered head injuries in the motorcycle accident, reports did not specify whether she sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) as well. The driver of the car suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Investigators at scene reportedly noted that the driver involved had been driving on a suspended license at the time, while the motorcyclist was not licensed to ride a motorcycle to begin with.
Additionally, alcohol and speed might have been factors in the wreck. Investigations continue.
