Des Moines, IA—Due to a fall hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and LaMont Limited has voluntarily recalled Belle Vanity Benches. The CPSC announced the recall on August 5, 2010.
About 1,900 benches were called after discovering that the legs on the vanity bench can detach at the weld, which can cause the bench to collapse, posing a fall hazard to users.
At this time LaMont has received two reports of the legs detaching at the weld, which caused one user to fall and suffer minor injuries.
The CPSC press release stated, “This recall involves Belle vanity benches with a scroll design and padded seat. The wrought iron vanity bench is about 21 3/4 inches from floor to top of rail. The padded seat has an 18 3/4 inch wide off-white damask cover.”
The vanity benches were exclusively sold at Tuesday Morning stores across the U.S. from May 2010 through June 2010. The benches sold for about $70.
Consumers are advices to stop using the benches immediately and return them to any Tuesday Morning store for a full refund. Consumers can also mail the benches directly to LaMont to receive a full refund. Anyone who chooses to mail the product back to LaMont needs to include the bench, name, mailing address and phone number in the package.
Mailing address: LaMont Limited, Customer Service, 1530 North Bluff Road, Burlington, Iowa 52601.
