Irvine, CA—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Kawasaki Motors Corporation have announced a voluntarily product recall of some 4,000 Kawasaki 2010 KLX110 Off-Road Motorcycles. The CPSC announced the recall on August 5, 2010 over injury hazards.
The recall was initiated after finding that the faulty housing for the ignition switch could allow water to enter and activate the electric starter unintentionally.
At this time there have been no injuries or incidents reported in connection with the recalled product.
According to the CPSC, “This recall involves Kawasaki 2010 model year KLX110CAF and KLX110DAF off-road motorcycles. They were sold in green and have Kawasaki written on the sides of the fuel tank.”
The recalled motorcycles were sold through Kawasaki dealers nationwide from August 2009 through February 2010. The motorcycles sold for about $2,100.
Consumers are advised to contact a local Kawasaki Motorcycle dealer to schedule an appointment for a complimentary repair. All known users have been contacted by Kawasaki.
For further information, consumers can contact Kawasaki toll-free (866) 802-9381 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit their website at www.kawasaki.com.
