San Diego, CA—The plane crash that claimed the life of an Arizona mother and left a father and his three kids critically injured took another turn for the worse Wednesday, August 4, 2010, when one of the children was pronounced brain dead at Rady Children’s Hospital. The deadly aviation accident occurred Monday, August 2, 2010, killing a wife and mother of three on impact, according to information provided by 10News.com and a previous report titled, “San Diego CA Plane Crash Kills Mother; Critically Injures Father, 3 Children.”
The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office declared 8-year-old Austin Crane brain dead after concluding that he would not recover from his traumatic plane crash injuries. Reports noted the young boy was on life support while he awaited a much-needed organ donation.
Gregory Crane, pilot and father of the three injured children, reportedly flew to San Diego to retrieve his wife, Lori, as well as his kids, who were vacationing with family at the time. The children were identified as Summer, 11; Tia, 10; and Austin, 8. The family resides in Arizona, according to Lori’s father Earl Orner.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials were expected to probe the fatal home-built plane crash.
