Irvine, CA– The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. has voluntarily recalled T Series notebook computers. The CPSC announced the recall on September 2, 2010 over a burn hazard the computers pose.

The Satellite T135, Satellite T 135D and the Satellite ProT130 notebook computers were recalled after discovering that the computers can overheat where the AC adapter plugs into the notebook. The overheating can cause a burn hazard to consumers.

The CPSC press release stated, “This recall involves certain Toshiba Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and Satellite Pro T130 notebook computer models. ‘Toshiba’ is printed on the top of the notebook computer. The model name and number are printed on a label on the bottom of the notebook computers. Electronics stores and other retailers nationwide and online, including at Toshibadirect.com and other websites, from August 2009 through August 2010 for between $600 and $800.”

Consumers are advised to download the latest version of Toshiba’s BIOS computer program to their computers. The programs will help to detect whether the computer is overheating. If your computer detects that it is overheating, consumers should contact Toshiba for a free repair. You can download the program at http://laptops.toshiba.com/about/consumer-notices.
