Lower Burrell, PA – A Lower Burrell woman accused of attempting to murder her ex-husband will go to trial, as her preliminary hearing Tuesday, August 31, 2010, contained testimonies that she rear-ended her husband as he drove his motorcycle, as reported by WPXI.com.

Lisa Wikert faces several charges in connection with an incident where she rear-ended her ex, Darrin Wikert, as he drove a motorcycle on Leechburg Road in July. According to police, she was traveling at 70 mph when she struck the bike.

At the preliminary hearing, witnesses told a judge that the motorcycle became wedged under Lisa’s car after she rear-ended him. One witness claimed that Lisa continued to drive down the road at a high rate of speed for approximately a half mile with the bike lodged underneath the car.

Witness Paul Guerrini told the judge, “He was leaning on the hood and the amazing part was that as he was being pushed, he had the presence of mind to hold the front wheel of his motorcycle down the road…It was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Darrin Wikert was eventually thrown from the vehicles. He suffered a broken leg, ankle and ribs, as well as internal injuries.

The Wilkerts were married for 12 years. They divorced six years ago.

According to the assistant district attorney, Wilkert attempted to hurt her ex in the past. She previously pleaded guilty to arson in which Darrin Wikert was the victim.

Lisa Wikert’s defense claims this is just a big misunderstanding.
