Pennsylvania Auto Accident: Highland Twp. Crash Kills 3 Men, Including Inventor

Chester County, PA—A two-vehicle crash in Highland Township, Pennsylvania claimed the lives of three elderly men Tuesday afternoon, September 14, 2010, as reported by ThePittsburghChannel.com.

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) reported a Lexus RX 350, driven by 81-year-old James Winner Jr., was headed northbound on Miola Road when it veered into the southbound lanes for unknown reasons. The car consequently slammed into a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer SUV driven by 82-year-old Bobby Jerrett.

Emergency personnel were seemingly dispatched to the scene, located one-quarter mile north of White Oak Road. However, both drivers, along with a passenger in the Chevrolet SUV, were sadly killed. Their severe injuries proved fatal at the scene. The passenger was identified as 76-year-old Raymond Fair.

Reports noted that Winner was the inventor of an anti-auto theft device known as “The Club”.

Investigations into the fatal Highland Twp. crash are expected to be underway.

According to data provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) Encyclopedia, 34,172 were killed in traffic accidents throughout the U.S. during the year 2008. Of those fatalities, 1,468 were reported in the state of Pennsylvania.

Additionally, 19,279 of the total victims killed in crashes in 2008 were drivers while 7,441 were passengers.
