Fort Lauderdale, FL—A horrific SUV rollover accident resulted in two fatalities and left six others injured Saturday morning, September 18, 2010. The wreck occurred along Interstate 95, in close proximity to the Broward Boulevard exit, according to information provided by the Sun Sentinel.
Reports indicated a maroon Chevy Tahoe sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound on I-95 when it crashed and overturned for unknown reasons. According to Sgt. Mark Wysocky of the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), several individuals were ejected from the SUV during the rollover wreck.
According to a Fort Lauderdale spokesperson, seven people, including four women, two men, and a female child, were transported to Broward General Medical Center. One of the victims’ injuries apparently proved fatal at the hospital.
An eighth person in the overturned SUV reportedly suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the 10 a.m. crash. The accident victims’ identities and conditions were not immediately known.
Reports did not specify whether the Chevy Tahoe was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
The northbound lanes of I-95 near the Broward Boulevard exit were closed for about two hours after the accident, Wysocky reported.
Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol are expected to conduct a full investigation into the deadly SUV rollover accident.
