San Francisco, CA—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and PBteen, a division of Williams-Sonoma Inc., has voluntarily recalled PBteen Sleep and Study Loft Beds over a potential fall and injury hazard. The CPSC announced the recall on October 5, 2010.
PBteen recalled about 5,900 beds after discovering that the side rail on the bed can crack, which call allow the mattress support to collapse, which poses a fall and injury hazards to users.
According to the CPSC, “This recall involves PBteen Sleep and Study Loft beds in a variety of colors: espresso, honey, white and black. The bed is elevated and has a desk and bookcase underneath it. The beds were sold in the following colors: honey, black, espresso, and white.”
The recalled beds were sold at PBteen stores in Georgia, New York and Illinois, and online at www.pbteen.com. The beds sold for about $1,800.
Consumers are advised to contact PBteen to receive a free replacement side rail support bracket with free installation.
