Sacramento, CA—A teenage drunk driver is at fault for a fatal rollover accident, which killed a 19-year-old Woodland resident on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The fatal crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. in Yolo County, just southeast of Davis, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
The driver of the car, who is also 19, was speeding when he lost control, and drove the vehicle into a ditch. The vehicle then overturned several times before ejecting a female passenger, reported the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The female passenger who was ejected was tragically killed in the wreck. Yolo County chief deputy coroner Robert Labrash identified the female passenger as Crystal Marie Rodriguez, of Woodland. Rodriquez succumbed to her injuries about an hour after the crash.
Seven other people in the vehicle were injured, their ages ranged from 15 to 20. The injured victims reportedly sustained major injuries.
The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was subsequently arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). The driver’s identity is currently being withheld.
A full investigation is currently underway.
