Collier Township, PA—A man who passed his driver’s license test crashed through the PennDOT state driver license center, while his driving instructor was still seated in the passenger seat. The Allegheny County accident, which left two people with minor injuries, occurred late Wednesday afternoon, October 13, 2010, according to information provided by the Pittsburgh Channel.
“When I went into my spot, I wasn’t exactly straight and I didn’t want to fail my test, and I was going to put it in reverse, and I mistakenly hit the wrong pedal, and the car jerked forward and into the building at that stage,” 34-year-old Robert Keller explained.
Glass soared in all directions as the car smashed through a window of the PennDOT driver license center, coming to a rest inside the waiting area. While reports indicated two people suffered minor injuries in the accident, it was not specified if they were hospitalized for those wounds.
Keller told reports that due to differences between his work schedule and his wife’s, he required a license so he would be able to drive his daughter to preschool.
According to Tyler Cherilla, who was inside the license center at the time, “I was sitting inside getting my picture taken and looked over and there was this car. It just came slamming into the front door.”
Sorry and mortified about the wreck, Keller alleged he did not know if the accident would keep his from obtaining his driver’s license.
Reports did not specify if any charges were filed in connection with the car crash.
