Detroit, MI—Six people were hospitalized after a motor vehicle accident occurred on Detroit’s east side early Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010. The van-car collision caused one of the six victims to suffer injuries, which proved fatal upon her arrival at the hospital, according to information provided by The Detroit News.
Reports indicate an unidentified female was behind the wheel of a silver 2001 Dodge minivan and traveling on Gratiot, when she apparently failed to stop at a stop sign. The woman’s van subsequently slammed into a Chevrolet Impala, being driven by an unidentified male.
Emergency medical services (EMS) crews were dispatched to the scene to transport those injured to area hospitals. Unfortunately, a female passenger, who was riding in the Impala at the time, was killed in the wreck.
Both drivers were transported to an undisclosed hospital, where they were listed in temporary serious condition. A second female passenger in the Impala was rushed to a local medical center in critical condition. A male passenger in the minivan was listed in temporary serious condition.
Authorities withheld the crash victims’ identities. While it was not clear if any charges were filed in connection with the Detroit collision as of yet, investigations are expected to be underway.
