Sacramento, CA—A car reportedly slammed into a construction truck, which parked in the median of Highway 50, leaving the 60-year-old motorist dead and two workers injured on Wednesday, December 1, 2010. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the automobile accident occurred around 10 a.m., on westbound Highway 50 near Harbor Boulevard, as reported by The Modesto Bee.
According to the CHP, witnesses reported that a car was driving erratically on Highway 50. Not long after the reports, a Camry matching the description of the recklessly driven car hit the center divider and the truck of a private contractor, which was doing work for the Department of Transportation in the median. The collision pushed the truck forward, causing it to pin one worker between the truck and the center divider. The Camry continued and hit a white van as well.
The pinned worker, age 41, was rushed to the hospital for treatment of leg injuries he sustained. Another worker sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the van was uninjured.
The driver of the Camry, identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Morissa Susan Anapolsky, was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigations are underway.
