New York, NY—If you get into a car accident in New York, you better have your credit card handy. The FDNY is considering a plan to help budget woes by charging drivers who require their services following a crash, as reported by the New York Post.

The “Cash for Crash” plan, which is scheduled to begin next summer, will charge drivers for:

• A vehicle fire or “incident with injuries:” $490.

• A vehicle fire without injuries: $415

• Any other vehicle with injuries will cost $365.

It doesn’t matter if you didn’t cause the crash, if you need help, you’re going to be footing the bill.

Insurance policies are also warning motorists that their policies may not cover the new FDNY charges.

The “Cash for Crash” plan is expected to bring in about $1 million a year in revenue.

The FDNY responds to about 14,000 vehicle incidents every year. The FDNY promised that they “will not deny motorist services based on the status of the billing or payment for such services,” according to their announcement.
