Anderson, SC—One World Technologies, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, voluntarily recalled defective Ryobi RTS20 portable table-saws due to laceration hazards associated with them. The CPSC announced the product safety recall, which affects approximately 21,500 units, on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010.

While the distributor has yet to receive any reports of physical injury and/or property damage resultant of the flawed table-saws, the company was notified of one instance in which a consumer was struck by a piece of metal while using the product.

The South Carolina-based firm initiated the recall upon discovering that the saw blade on the motor carriage could be misaligned, leaving consumers at risk of lacerations.

According to the CPSC news release, “This recall involves the RTS20 Ryobi ten-inch, portable table-saw. The table saw has a blue base and warning label with the model RTS20 and the Ryobi name printed on it and attached to the rear of the saw.”

The recalled table-saws were made available for purchase at Home Depot retail outlets throughout the U.S. and Canada between July 2010 and October 2010. The product cost about $200.

Consumers have been urged to contact Ryobi to receive a complimentary inspection. A free repair or replacement Ryobi RTS20 portable table-saw will be provided if necessary.

Consumers with questions or concerns are advised to contact Ryobi at (800) 597-9624 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or online at www.ryobitools.com.
