Panama City Beach, FL—Four people suffered injuries ranging from minor to critical in a two-vehicle collision Sunday evening, January 2, 2010. The injurious motor vehicle accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 98, in close proximity to Placido Place, according to information provided by the Northwest Florida Daily News.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that 28-year-old Freddy D. Robertson was driving his 1996 F-150 westbound on U.S. 98 when it was rear-ended by a 1997 Acura, driven by 19-year-old Joshua Sutton.
Robertson’s pickup truck subsequently overturned in the median, ejecting him and an unidentified 8-year-old passenger in his vehicle.
Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene to rush Robertson, the injured girl and a third passenger, 26-year-old Kimberly Robertson to Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Freddy Robertson’s injuries were described as “critical.” He was eventually transferred to Bay Medical Center and placed in the hospital’s intensive care unit in guarded condition.
The child who was in Robertson’s pickup truck at the time of the wreck suffered injuries described as “serious.” The young girl’s aunt told reporters her niece was released from the hospital after a plastic surgeon treated her for scratches and lacerations to her face. She is recovering from her wounds at her home in Alabama.
Kimberly Robertson reportedly suffered minor injuries.
While Sutton managed to escape injury in the Panama City Beach collision, his passenger, 15-year-old Stephanie Hand, sustained minor injuries. It was not clear if she required medical attention for those wounds.
FHP officials were expected to conduct a full investigation into the automobile accident.
