Los Angeles, CA– Strangulation hazards prompted the recall of about 18,000 children’s hooded sweatshirts and jackets by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Mejoong Corp., dba Hot Kids. The CPSC announced the recall on January 11, 2011.
The recall was initiated after discovering that the drawstring through the hood of the sweatshirts could pose a strangulation or entrapment hazard to children.
The CPSC press release reported, “This recall involves children’s sweatshirts and jackets sold in sizes 2 through 12. The items are made of various materials and were sold in 13 colors and various prints. The brand names MJC, Hot Kids or MJ Collection are printed on the sewn-in label at the neck.”
A chart providing information on the recalled sweatshirts can be found at: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml11/11091.html
Consumers are advised to remove the drawstrings and return the jackets and sweatshirts to Hot Kids for a full refund.
For further information concerning the recall, consumers can contact Hot Kids at (888) 946-8546 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday or visit their website at http://www.mejoong.com.
