Livermore, CA– The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Health Canada and Discovery Toys LLC voluntarily recalled about 2,900 Toddler Talk toy mobile phones in the U.S. and another 700 in Canada over choking hazards. The CPSC announced the recall on January 12, 2011.
The recall was initiated after discovering that the clear plastic antenna can break off, which poses a choking hazard to young children.
The CPSC press release stated, “This recall involves a red and blue plastic battery-operated toy mobile phone with a small, clear antennae, buttons numbered ‘1, 2, 3, 4 and Play,’ a screen with a boy’s face and the words ‘hello! hola! bonjour!’ Only model number 1231 is involved in this recall. The model number is printed on the toy’s packaging. ‘Discovery Toys’ is stamped into the red plastic on the back of the toy.”
Consumers are advised to contact Discovery Toys to obtain instructions on how to return the defective toy for a replacement toy.
