Mount Olive, NC—A school bus rollover crash injured the bus driver and 12 students Wednesday morning, January 26, 2011. The school bus accident occurred as the bus was headed to North Duplin Elementary School in Mt. Olive, on Ralph Sutton Road near Buckhill Road at around 7 a.m., as reported by NBC17.

Officials reported that the substitute school bus driver Tina Andrews, 39, ran off the road and overcorrected the bus, causing it to overturn onto its side. The bus was carrying 25 students at the time.

“Right now no evidence to suggest anything other than it was an accident this morning. And the safety of our children as far as I’m concerned is the priority right now,” Duplin County Schools Superintendent Obasohan said.

Responding emergency medical crews rushed the driver and 12 students to Duplin General Hospital for treatment of bumps and bruises. All victims have been treated and released from the hospital.

Andrew was charged with a misdemeanor for failing to maintain lane control. Drugs, alcohol or speed were not factors in the crash.
