Long Beach, FL—A two-vehicle collision ripped a car in two and totaled another, which injured three people in Long Beach. The fatal automobile accident occurred around 12:50 p.m., on Wednesday 26, 2011 on Spring Street just east of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, as reported by the Los Angeles Daily News.
According to Long Beach officials, the collision was so violent that it cut one of the vehicles involved into two separate pieces.
“The front half of the car stayed on the street while the other half was launched down the embankment below. Amazingly, the 27-year-old female driver and the 9-year-old male passenger only sustained moderate to minor injuries,” Steve Yamamoto of the Long Beach Fire Department said in a statement.
Responding emergency crews extricated a woman and a boy from one of the vehicles. A man driving the other car and the two other victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. The man sustained severe injuries.
The identities of the victims are being withheld.
Long Beach Police Department is conducting a full investigation.
