Houston, TX– One man was killed after falling from a roller coaster at a rodeo carnival on Sunday, March 20, 2011. The accident occurred at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo outside of the Reliant Center at around 9 p.m., reported My Fox Houston.

According to officials, the victim fell about 28 feet from the HiMiler roller coaster ride onto another man who was walking near the ride.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and administered CPR to the man who fell from the ride, before he was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The other man was transported to the HLSR medical facility for treatment of a broken ankle.

No signs of a malfunction were found during an inspection on the HiMiler, but another inspection will be done when the roller coaster is disassembled.

This is the first fatal accident to ever occur on the HLSR grounds during their 38-year history.

Investigations are underway.
