Union City, TN — More than 10,000 wrist rattles and 11,000 pairs of baby booties in the United States and 600 wrist rattles and 700 pairs of baby booties in Canada were voluntarily recalled for choking hazards. Midwest-CBK Inc., the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada announced the product recall on April 14, 2011.
The product recall was issued after discovering that the pom-poms attached to the wrist rattles and booties can detach, which poses a choking hazard to young children.
“This recall involves the Monkeez & Friends™ wrist rattles and baby booties. The wrist rattles and the booties are made of knitted yarn and have a monkey head and a pom-pom attached. Both come in multiple color combinations,” reported the CPSC press release.
Consumers are advised to return the products to the place of purchase or to a Midwest-CBK for a full refund. Those who are unable to return the recalled product to the place of purchase can contact Midwest-CBK to receive a prepaid shipping label.
For more information concerning the product recall, consumers can contact Midwest-CBK toll-free at (800) 394-4225 between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.
