Chaska, MN — About 5,850 wooden stools were voluntarily recalled by Heartland America and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for fall hazards the product poses. The CPSC announced the product recall on April 26, 2011.

The product recall was issued after discovering that legs and set of the wooden stool can crack or break, which poses a fall hazard to the consumer.

Seven injuries have been reported as result of the defective stools. One injury included a person who sustained a head laceration as a result of the fall.

“The stool is an adjustable-height solid wood, 3-legged stool sold unassembled. The seat is 11 3/4-inch diameter. The stool height adjusts from 17 inches to 25 inches. A ‘Made in China’ sticker is on the underside of the seat,” reported the CPSC press release.

Consumers are advised to contact Heartland America at (800) 398-8163 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT or visit their website at www.heartlandamerica.com/stoolrecall.
