Los Angeles, CA — The Staples Center is facing a lawsuit filed by the parents of a 2-year-old boy, who plummeted from a private box at a Los Angeles Lakers game last November. The 2-year-old boy, Lucas Anthony Tang, was enjoying the game at the Staples Center with his parents and his 11-year-old sister when the fatal accident occurred, reported KOAT.
Lucas Tang fell from a third-level private box and landed on the seats below, following the November 21st game against the Golden State Warriors.
Tang died from massive head injuries and multiple traumatic injuries as a result of the fall.
The Tang family lawsuit asserted that Anschutz Entertainment Group and L.A. Arena Co. failed to warn fans about the design of the luxury boxes, which does not protect people from the possibility of falling out.
The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages, in addition to an injunction that would force the arena operator to install higher barriers in the boxes.
