Philadelphia, PA — A civil lawsuit filed against Dunkin’ Donuts has accused the coffee chain of putting sugar rather than artificial sweetener into a diabetic woman’s coffee, which sent her into diabetic shock. The civil lawsuit was filed in Philadelphia, reported Boston.com
According to the lawsuit, Danielle Jordan became dizzy, disoriented and light-headed after drinking her coffee. Jordan ultimately went into diabetic shock and was rushed to the hospital. The incident worsened her diabetic symptoms, causing her to increase the amount of medication she takes.
The lawsuit claims that Jordan has been deprived of “her usual customary duties, activities, avocations and occupations” to her “great financial detriment and loss.”
The lawsuit, which is seeking unspecified damages, claims Dunkin Donuts is negligent in allowing employees to add sweetener to coffee out of the customer’s presence.
