Pittsburgh, PA — Lead exposure risks prompted GAMMA Sports and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to voluntarily recall about 2,000 Quick Kids Junior Tennis Racquets. The CPSC announced the product recall on June 23, 2011.
The product recall was issued after discovering that the orange grip tape on the tennis racquet’s handle contains high levels of lead, which is toxic if young children ingest it and can cause adverse health effects.
“This recall involves Quick Kids 23-inch aluminum junior tennis racquets with orange tape on the hand grip. Recalled racquets have lot number ‘F:3:10:08’ stamped onto the bottom of the racquet grip below the ‘G,’” the CPSC reported.
Consumers are advised to contact GAMMA Sports for a free replacement grip. All known customers are being directly contacted by GAMMA.
For more information about the product recall, consumers can contact GAMMA Sports at (800) 333-0337 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.gammasports.com.
