Florida Justice Association swears in new Officers

The Florida Justice Association on June 17, 2011 inaugurated its new leadership at The Breakers Palm Beach during the annual Presidential Luncheon, where the new President Fred A. Cunningham, along with other FJA Officers took their oaths of office. That evening, the FJA celebrated its 50th anniversary at a gala, The Justice Ball, that was attended by former

Governor Charlie Crist.

The Presidential Luncheon and Ball capped off the association’s Annual Convention, complete with three days of intensive seminars designed to help lawyers hone trial skills to better represent their clients, along with outstanding networking opportunities with Florida’s most accomplished trial lawyers and experts.

The Presidential Luncheon, emceed by FJA Past President John F. Romano, was held to honor past and present FJA leadership and all of the highly motivated members who dedicate their energy and enthusiasm to preserving individual freedoms and protecting the Florida civil justice system.

Florida Supreme Court Justice Jorge Labarga swore in President Fred Cunningham, partner at the Palm Beach-based Slawson, Cunningham, Whalen & Gaspari, and the newly elected FJA Officers and Board members who were present at the luncheon. Other Officers include President-Elect Gary Farmer, a partner at the Fort Lauderdale-based Farmer,

Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos and Lehrman; Treasurer Paul Anderson, a partner at the Tallahassee-based Anderson & Hart, and Secretary Troy Rafferty, a partner at the Pensacola-based Levin Law Firm. Former Florida CFO Alex Sink and current State Senator Oscar Branyon were in attendance.

That evening, the FJA’s 50th Anniversary Justice Ball raised funds for Florida’s Guardian ad Litem program, and a contribution was presented to Frank Brogan, Chancellor of the Florida University System and Courtney Brogan, Guardian ad Litem Board of Director.
