New York, NY — Chanel silk scarves, dresses, skirts and blouses have been voluntarily recalled by Chanel Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for fire hazards the product poses to consumers. The CPSC announced the product recall on July 7, 2011.

The product recall was issued after it was discovered that the garments fail to meet the federal flammability standard for apparel, which puts consumers at risk for fire hazards.

The scarves, dresses, skirts and blouses are made of 100 percent silk and come in a variety of designs. Nearly all items were returned to Chanel in May 2010, reported the CPSC.

Consumers have been advised to contact Chanel to receive a full refund.

If you need further information concerning the product recall, consumers can contact Chanel customer service at (800) 550-0005 or ConsumerRelations@chanelusa.com.
