Lamoille County, VT — A work-related accident killed a carnival worker who was setting up the 50th annual Lamoille County Field Days in Johnson. The fatal work-related accident took place on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at around 3:30 p.m., when the worker got caught in a large generator fan, reported the Burlington Free Press.
Vermont State Police reported that Leonardo Espinabarro Telles, 40, of Vera Cruz, Mexico was an employee of Massachusetts-based Castlerock Amusements and was in the U.S. on a work visa.
Telles reportedly became caught in the fan of a large diesel generator, which led to his death.
Northern Emergency Medical Services rushed to the scene and rushed Telles to Copley Hospital in Morrisville, but his injuries proved fatal while en route to the hospital. Telles sustained massive trauma to his torso.
Police have ruled his death as an “accident.”
The Vermont State Police along with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are conducting an investigation into the fatal work-related accident.
