San Francisco, CA — Pogoplug Video file sharing devices are being voluntarily recalled by Cloud Engines Inc., Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) over fire hazards the device poses. The CPSC announced the nationwide product recall on August 2, 2011.

The product recall was issued after noticing that the unit can overheat or catch fire, which can emit excessive heat, sparks, smoke for flames. This poses a fire hazard to consumers.

The device has the word ‘Pogoplug’ on the side. ‘Model: Pogoplug Video’ is listed on a label on the bottom of the device,” reported the CPSC.

Consumers are advised to contact Cloud Engines in order to receive a refund or replacement device.
