Philadelphia, PA — Two workers are recovering after becoming trapped in a partial house collapse, Friday morning, August 19, 2011. The work-related accident occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. in the 900 block of Boston Street in North Philadelphia, reported WPVI-TV.
According to officials, the construction workers were at the house to rebuild a wall, which has been deteriorating for years. Apparently the worker didn’t brace the wall before beginning their work, causing the partial house collapse.
The two workers, identified as 42-year-old Joe Nixon and 51-year-old old Devon Jackson were rushed to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. They are reportedly both listed in stable condition.
The house has since been condemned and it will have to be torn down.
This house collapse marks the third building to partially collapse in the city in less than a week. The back of a three-story apartment building in South Philadelphia and a wall of church in the Frankford neighborhood also collapsed on Tuesday. No injuries were reported in either collapse.
