Tacoma, WA — A motorist is facing criminal charges after she “flipped the bird” at another driver and subsequently lost control of her vehicle, causing a crash. The automobile accident occurred on Highway 512, just before 1 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011, reported the Seattle Times.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the 23-year-old driver from Tacoma, was driving a 2000 Ford Taurus eastbound in the left lane of the highway, when she attempted to move into the right lane.
The 50-year-old driver of a 1997 Subaru Outback reportedly refused, or was unable to let her over into the right lane. The woman then became angry and in a fit of road rage, flipped the bird at the driver of the Subaru.
This caused the woman to loose control of her car, which then led to a collision with the Subaru. Both vehicles left the roadway and the Subaru overturned and came to a rest on the side of the road. The Taurus came to a rest in a ditch.
Responding emergency crews treated the driver of the Taurus, the 50-year-old driver of the Subaru and a passenger in the Subaru for minor injuries.
The driver of the Taurus is now facing criminal charges in connection with the crash.
