Los Angeles, CA — Warner Brothers is facing a newly filed lawsuit from a stunt double that worked on “The Hangover Part 2,” after sustaining a traumatic brain injury while filming the comedic sequel. Scott McLean, who played Ed Helms’ stunt double in the Todd Phillips-directed sequel, filed the lawsuit in the California Central District Court, reported Reuters

McLean sustained the brain injury in December 2010, while filming the movie in Thailand. He was reportedly riding as a passenger in a car during the stunt when the timing sequence was suddenly changed, causing the speed of the vehicle to increase “significantly to a speed unsafe for the stunt, thus resulting in a major collision” with an oncoming vehicle.

The crash left McLean with “serious brain and other physical injuries, and was in a medically induced coma for almost two months,” according to court documents. As a result of the crash he likely has “permanent brain and physical injuries.”

McLean was airlifted from Thailand to an Australian rehab facility following the crash, where he still remains.

The lawsuit is seeking relief for McLean’s caretaker, Raelene Chapman, who has been “unable to work” and “suffered emotional distress” due to the experiences, Reuters reported. In addition, the lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages and court costs.

Warner Brothers released a statement, obtained by TheWrap, which said, “We were shocked and saddened by this accident and have been working closely with Scott and his family throughout his treatment and recovery. We have offered continual support since the accident occurred and we are working together to try and resolve any outstanding issues.”
