Murrieta, CA — Off-Road Motorcycles by KTM North America Inc. are being voluntarily recalled by KTM and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for fall and/or crash hazards posed to consumers. The CPSC announced the nationwide product recall on September 8, 2011.
The product recall was issued after discovering that the motorcycle handlebar clamp can develop cracks during normal use, which can cause the handlebars to move from their set position. This can cause the operator to lose control, posing a fall and/or crash hazard.
One report of a rider being hospitalized from injuries resulting from a crash in which the handlebar clamps failed has been received by KTM.
The CPSC reported that the recall involves all 2011 KTM and Husaberg off-road/competition motorcycles. For the complete list of models and engine sizes involved in this recall, please visit: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml11/11319.html.
Consumers are advised to contact an authorized KTM and Husaberg dealer to schedule a free repair.
For more information concerning the product recall, consumers can contact an authorized KTM or Husaberg dealer, which can be located by going to www.ktm.com or www.husaberg.com. Consumers may also call KTM North America Inc. customer relations at (888) 985-6090 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday to Friday.
