Salem, NH — A rollover accident injured seven high school football players Thursday night, September 15, 2011, while on their way back from a team dinner in Salem. The automobile accident occurred at the intersection of Coventry Lane and East Broadway around 9 p.m., reported WMUR.
A passenger in the car, Jake Poore, 15, said to WMUR, “I was looking for a song on the iPod and looked up at the speedometer, and he’s going at least 80, and I was about to say something, and he hit that corner hard. We go off into a ditch. It got really dark, and it was really loud when it happened.”
The driver was reportedly 16-years-old.
The impact of the crash was so intense that the vehicle was able to snap a utility pole.
Poore claimed everyone in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but police revealed that the vehicle only had six seat belts and there were seven occupants.
Police reported that the injuries were not considered life-threatening. One of the teens reportedly sustained a broken collarbone, while Poore suffered a minor cut to his hand.
Investigations are ongoing, and it has not been revealed if charges will be filed.
