Washington, D.C. — A bizarre accident sent a woman to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries after a toilet exploded at the General Services Administration (GSA) building. The accident occurred in the GSA Building located on 7th and D SW, reported the Detroit Free Press.

According to officials, employees at the GSA Regional office building were sent a memo, which warmed them not to use the restrooms inside the building, due to potentially dangerous plumbing.

As the Detroit Free Press reported, the memo stated: “DO NOT flush toilets or use any domestic water. Due to a mechanical failure, there is high air pressure in the domestic water system that resulted in damage to toilets. The engineering staff is working to correct the issue. There has been damage to flushed toilets that has resulted in injuries. We will announce when the issue is resolved.”

The woman, who remained unidentified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Her condition and nature of her injuries were not released.

Investigations are underway.
