Detroit, MI — More than a dozen people were injured when a Detroit bus crashed into a pole Tuesday night, October 18, 2011. The bus accident involved two other vehicles near the intersection of Gratiot Avenue and State Fair Street in Detroit’s east side, reported WXYZ.com.
According to witnesses, a burgundy Chevy sedan was trying to get around the bus when it hit both the bus and a SUV, which catapulted the bus into a fire hydrant, a light pole and a nearby sign.
The SUV was transporting three people, a woman and two teens. The teens sustained minor injuries in the wreck, while the woman was just shaken from the crash.
The male driver of the sedan was also injured, as well as several people on the bus. Over a dozen people were injured in the crash.
The injured were rushed to St. John and Detroit Receiving Hospitals for treatment. The driver of the sedan is reportedly listed in temporary serious condition.
A woman was ticketed by police for disorderly conduct.
The Detroit police and the DDOT are investigating the traffic accident.
