Williamston, MI — A freshman at Williamston High School was killed in what is being called a “tragic accident” late Wednesday afternoon, October 26, 2011. The student was doing pull-ups on a wall in the locker room when the whole wall came crashing down on top of him, reports WLNS.

Fox News identified the victim as 14-year-old Gabriel Corbett.

Responding emergency crews rushed to the scene, but Corbett went into cardiac arrest before he was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officials state it is unknown why the interior wall came crashing down. Reportedly, there was no horseplay by either the victim or another student who was in the locker room at the time.

A student, Leo Deason, 17, told the Lansing State Journal that he rushed into the locker room after hearing a noise and began taking the cement blocks of off Corbett, along with others who came to his aide.

The locker room, which was built in 1990, had no reports of structural issues.

Investigations are underway.
